Regional Bank Launches Instant Issuance Program

A major regional bank in the central U.S. was considering implementing instant issuance at their 650 branch offices. Runge & Company was retained to perform an initial feasibility study and develop two technical strategies – a “best of breed solution” and a price sensitive solution.

Runge & Company created a business model for instant issuance within the client's banking environment, and analyzed a wide range of financial parameters to determine the potential return on investment.  We reviewed the client's current system of issuing debit cards and determined the technical requirements for integrating their DDA system, a third party card management system, and the proposed instant issuance architecture.

Our deliverables included developing an implementation timeline, completing an operational analysis of security requirements, and reviewing MasterCard's best practices for instant issuance. The study was completed in less than two months and included several on-site consultations and a final presentation to senior management. The client selected one of the three vendor solutions recommended by Runge & Company, and is currently looking to expand a 30-branch instant issuance pilot.

Credit Union Partners with Local University to Deliver Campus Card Financial Services

A mid-western financial institution was interested in responding to an RFP to provide Campus Card financial services for a major university. The client had no experience with Campus Card programs, yet wanted to compete against several major banks with established track records.  Runge & Company was hired to prepare the RFP response.

The effort encompassed structuring the financial proposal and designing the instant issuance system for a MasterCard-branded debit card that would serve as a photo ID, and provide access to a range of campus services. A 14-month implementation schedule was developed to meet a “zero defects” quality objective. A marketing program was created to launch the new card in time for the following school year.

Runge & Company completed the RFP assignment in less than three weeks on a “priority basis”, and led the presentation of the proposed system to the university.  The client was selected as the winning bid.  The card program is now in its second year, with new account penetration exceeding expectations.
